I have over 10 years of research and study in field of International Relations. My PhD was completed at the Department of International Politics, Aberystwyth University in Wales. It was titled Fortified Societies. The Mobilisation of Shared Anxieties. I also have a MA in International Relations with First Class Honours, and a Master of Diplomacy with Distinction from Australian National University.
My research interests are in sociological theory, specifically the synthesis of process sociology developed by Norbert Elias, and the strand of risk sociology developed by Ulrich Beck. This has been in concert with detailed empirical investigations into spoken and performative texts by political leaders. Currently, I am in the process of expanding my methodological focus to include visual images.
In over 6 years, I have crafted an eclectic photographic portfolio from travels across Wales, England, Germany and Australia. I have held a longstanding interest in photography. During my my PhD research in Wales, photography became a way of depressurising from my thesis and finding more visual ways of expression. One of my photos is on permanent display in the International Politics and History Building, Aberystwyth University.
My most recent photography focuses on portraits and street photography.
